Men's Tennis Stalled by No. 16 Texas Tech at Blue-Gray Classic

MONTGOMERY, Ala.- The Harvard men's tennis team bowed to No. 16 Texas Tech, the top-seeded team in the tournament in the opening round of the Blue Gray Classic, 4-0. The Crimson dips to 7-5 on the year after coming into the event on a three-match winning streak The Red Raiders pick up their 11th consecutive victory to improve to 13-1 this season.
For just the third time this year, the Crimson drops the doubles point by being swept in pairs play for the first time in 2010. The Red Raiders claimed the score with 8-3 victories at all three positions. Harvard is 1-1 in matches where it does not clinch the doubles point.
Texas Tech captured three wins in singles action to claim the victory. The Red Raiders won at the top three singles slots in straight sets. The No. 4, 5 and 6 matches were unfinished. Sophomore Alistair Felton was in line to win the second set to even the No. 4 match. Joshua Tchan took the first set 6-4 and dropped the second set 6-2 at the fifth spot.
Harvard moves to the consolation bracket where it will face Penn State in a match slated for a 5:30 p.m. start time.
