CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – Sophomore Mikaela Thompson reached the finals of the women's three-meter dive and junior Bobby Ross was a top-10 finisher in the men's one-meter dive event Monday at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships hosted by Virginia Tech.
Ross registered the fifth-best score in the preliminary round at 318.80 to advance to the finals as part of the top-18 divers at the event. The New Canaan, Connecticut native continued to excel in the next round, racking up a combined score of 631.10 to finish seventh in the event. Fellow junior David Pfeifer also competed in the preliminary portion of the competition, scoring 252.45, good for 29th.
Thompson reached the finals in the three-meter after posting a score of 273.55 in the prelims, good for 12th. She held steady at the position through the finals, recording a final tally of 551.90.
Competition continues Tuesday at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center with the women's one-meter and the men's three-meter events. All three Harvard divers will be in action again.
