CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard diving team will send two men and two women to the NCAA Zone A Diving Championship hosted by Virginia Tech March 6-8. Bobby Ross, David Pfeifer, Jing Leung and Mikaela Thompson will compete for a spot at the NCAA Championships.
The Christiansburg Aquatic Center will host a total of 108 student-athletes from 35 schools next week. Pfeifer, Ross and Thompson will each compete in the one- and three-meter events, while Leung will compete on the platform.
Leung is the defending Zone A platform champion, winning last year's event held in Annapolis, Maryland. The junior has qualified for the NCAA Championships on the platform in each of her first two years, and earned first team All-America honors last year with an eighth-place finish at the NCAA Championships in Atlanta.
Thompson enters the Zone Championship after defending her title on the one-meter board at the Ivy League Championship Meet. At last year's Zone event in Annapolis, Thompson reached the one-meter finals, placing ninth.
Ross enters the Zone meet after earning second team All-Ivy honors after finishing as the runner-up on both the one- and three-meter boards. Pfeifer finished third in the three-meter and fourth in the one-meter at the Ivy Championships. He placed in the top-25 at last year's Zone meet in both events.
