Junior David Ryan rolled to a 3-0 victory at No. 5 against the top-ranked Yellow Jackets (Gil Talbot).
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The No. 4 Harvard men's squash team took down No. 1 Rochester, 6-3, on the road Saturday afternoon. The Crimson won its sixth-straight match to open the 2016-17 campaign, and it has defeated four top-10 opponents during that stretch.
Harvard (6-0, 3-0 Ivy) proved it is a true national-title contender, taking down Rochester (7-2) in convincing fashion. The Crimson earned its first victory over the top-ranked team in the nation since Jan. 9, 2016 against then-No. 1 Penn.
The Crimson relied on its depth against the Yellow Jackets, as Harvard dominated from the No. 4-8 positions. Junior David Ryan rolled to a 3-0 victory at No. 5, while freshman Timothy Brownell pulled out a 3-2 win at No. 4.
Senior captains Bryan Koh and Devin McLaughlin collected wins at No. 7 and No. 8, respectively, while freshman Sean Hughes notched a victory at No. 6. All five players, including Ryan and Brownell, remained undefeated on the season with the wins.
Freshman Saadeldin Abouaish moved to 5-1 at No. 1 on the year, earning a 3-1 victory to cap off the match for the Crimson.
