Nick Hopcroft improved to 9-1 this season with a win in the No. 3 position against Rochester Saturday afternoon at the Murr Center.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- After losing its last two matches, the No. 5 Harvard men's squash team got back on track with a dominant 7-2 win over No. 4 Rochester Saturday afternoon at the Murr Center. Harvard moved its record to 11-2 overall with the non-conference win, marking the first time since the 2004-05 season that the Crimson have registered more than 10 victories.

Harvard, which advanced to 3-2 all-time against Rochester, took an early 2-1 advantage with wins from No. 3 Nick Hopcroft and No. 6 Nigel Koh in the match that used the three court system. Hopcroft (9-1) broke out to a 2-0 lead, before winning 3-1 against Joe Chapman, while Koh (7-2) won his last two individual games to get past Oscar Lopez.

In the second round of matches, Harvard once again won 2-of-3 to take a commanding 4-2 lead. Brandon McLaughlin (6-2) won at No. 2 and Tyler Olson (8-1) won a back-and-forth match at No. 5 with an 11-6 victory in his fifth game against Matt Domenick.

The Crimson easily clinched the victory in the last set of matches, as Harvard swept the final three individual matches. Ali Farag (4-0) continued his perfect January with a 3-0 sweep of Andres Duany at No. 1, while Gary Power (6-2) and Julian Kirby (9-1) followed suit with wins at No. 4 and No. 7, respectively.

The Crimson returns to action Feb. 5, when the squad travels to New York for an Ivy League match with No. 15 Columbia.
