Men's Soccer Announces Six Member Incoming Class of 2022

Men's soccer welcomes six players to the incoming class of 2022 (Gil Talbot). 

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard men's soccer team announces the incoming of class of 2022: Ben Bryant, Alex Debayo-Doherty, Nico Garcia-Morillo, Håvard Hjermstad, David Paquette, and Alfred Perez.

 "We are excited and proud to welcome this talented group of players," says The Virginia B. and James O. Welch, Jr. '52 Head Coach for Harvard Men's Soccer Pieter Lehrer. "Not only do they have the ability to make their mark immediately in the program and the team culture, both on and off the field, but they will be strong assets to the Harvard community as a whole."

Hailing from four states as well as one international country, the six talented freshmen will join 21 upper classmen this fall, including nine players in the rising junior class.

Started 32 of the 34 games for the FC Boston Bolts … Team captain of Roxbury Latin in 2017 … Named to the All-ISL first team as a junior and senior … Two-time Boston Globe All-Scholastic selection in 2016 and 2017 … Selected as New England Preparatory School Athletic Council All-Star in 2016 and 2017 … Massachusetts NSCAA All-State selection in 2016 and 2017 … Mother was a member of the Harvard women's tennis class of 1986 ... Great-nephew of Indiana's Hallie Bryant. 

Alex Debayo-Doherty | F | McLean, Va. | The Potomac School
Played four years for the Bethesda SC as a striker … Top goal scorer for Bethesda U16/U17 squads … Led the U19 team to a 4-0 shutout over the New York Red Bulls … Scored two goals and two assists for the U19 team against FC Delco … Attended the US National team regional combine in 2016 … Recorded a hat-trick for U17 against NJCSA … National Merit Scholar … Attended the Johns Hopkins' Center for Talented Youth.

Played five years with the United States national team … Member of the U17 team that defeated France in the finals, 3-2 … U.S. soccer training invitee … Played two years for Atletico Madrid … National Honor Society.

Håvard Hjermstad | D/M | Hosle, Akershus, Norway | Donski High School
Played for Baerum SK in Norway … Team captain of junior team … Named the Denski Student-Athlete of the Year … Named the Baerum coaches' Player of the Year in 2017 … Is an Orienteer … Triplet brothers compete nationally for Norway in orienteering. 

David Paquette | GK | Petoskey, Mich. |Petoskey High School
Member of the Lakers Michigan Premier Select Club Soccer Team … Two-time team captain for U18 team in 2017 and 2018 … U18 PYSA Summer Invitational Champion … Two-time Division 2 District Champion at Petoskey in 2016 and 2017 … First team all-state selection … First team All-Big North Conference … Voted as the top goalkeeper in Division 2 in MIHSSCA in 2017 … Selected to the all-region and all-district team in 2017 … Named to the All-State third team and all-conference second team in 2016 … MHSAA 2018 Scholar-Athlete of the Year … Member of the National Honor Society … National Merit Finalist.

Alfred Perez | F | Miami, Fla. | Belen Jesuit
Member of the U16 and U18 United States national team … Team captain … Led the United States in goals scored by a player born in 1999 … Top goal scorer for four consecutive years with Weston FC … Father played professional baseball for the Houston Astros in the 1980s.
