Sam Brown ’18 Selected 17th Overall in MLS SuperDraft, Highest Pick in Men’s Soccer History
January 11, 2019CHICAGO – Sam Brown, a recent graduate of the Harvard men’s soccer program, has been selected 17th overall in the Major League Soccer (MLS) SuperDraft on Friday, Jan. 11 by Real Salt Lake. Brown is the ninth player in program history to be drafted but the first to be selected in the first round. Harvard’s last draft pick was Andrew Wheeler-Omiunu in 2017, who went to Atlanta United FC and recently won the MLS Cup with the club. -
Matt Freese Signs with Philadelphia Union

Sam Brown Invited to 2019 Adidas MLS Player Combine
December 13, 2018NEW YORK – Sam Brown of the Harvard men’s soccer team has been invited to the 2019 Adidas MLS Player Combine, scheduled for Jan. 3-9 in Orlando, Fla., as announced by Major League Soccer today (Dec. 13). Brown is one of 60 college players invited to showcase their talent in front of all 24 MLS teams in early January, leading up to the 2019 SuperDraft on Jan. 11. -

My family has always been very active and two of my brothers and my sister are competing in a sport called orienteering at national level. Freese landed a spot on the Second Team All-Ivy for the first time in his career while Brown was named honorable mention, the third All-Ivy postseason award of his career. -

Lightning Forces Cancellation of Men’s Soccer Game at Northeastern
October 23, 2018BROOKLINE, Mass. – The Harvard men’s soccer team (3-10) saw its non-conference tilt with Northeastern (5-7-1) cancelled due to weather on Tuesday night. After waiting out a 47-minute lightning delay early in the first half, persistent thunderstorms forced the match to be suspended and consequently cancelled in the 61st minute. The NCAA requires 70 complete minutes to count as a full game. -
