 Harvards returns home for a match against Northeastern Wednesday evening (Gil Talbot). 

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Crimson returns home to face Northeastern Wednesday, Sept. 13 at Jordan Field for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff. The match will be broadcast on Facebook Live and the Ivy League Network.

The Opening Kickoff

  • Freshman Paolo Belloni-Urso earned Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors after scoring the game winning goal in Harvard's 2-1 road victory over Providence on Sept. 9. It was his first goal of the season as well as the first time receiving the league honors.
  • Belloni-Urso and sophomore Matthew Glass lead the Crimson with one goal each.
  • Senior defenders Eric Gylling and Justin Crichlow along with sophomore Philip Hausen lead the Crimson with one assist on the season.

Last Time Out
The Crimson is coming off its first victory of the season, a 2-1 road win over Providence College. Freshman Belloni-Urso found the bottom left corner of the net in the 84th minute. Junior Jack Miler was solid on defense as he kept the game tied at 1-1, sprinting up the near sideline and knocking the ball out before Providence's attacker reached the 18-yard box in the 75th minute.

Scouting Harvard
The Crimson has a solid defense anchored in net by senior goalkeeper Kyle Parks. In three games this season Parks has recorded 14 saves. Offensively, Belloni-Urso and Hausen lead the Crimson with three shots on goal during the young season.

Scouting Northeastern
The Huskies are coming off a double overtime victory in their home opener against No. 12 UMass Lowell on Saturday Sept. 9. Junior Martin Nygaard recorded the game-winner during the seventh minute of the second overtime period. Senior goalkeeper Jonathan Thuresson was named the CAA Player of the Week after recording nine saves – five in the first 12 minutes – against the River Hawks.

Harvard leads the series over Northeastern, 8-3.

The Crimson defeated the Huskies, 3-2, in their last meeting on Sept. 23, 2014.

The Class of 2021
Adding a talented group of six to the roster, Harvard men's soccer announced the incoming class of 2021 over the summer: Paolo Belloni-UrsoCornelius BencsikRory ConwayFernando DoctersMatt Freese, and Sebastian Lindner-Liaw.

Home Field Advantage
Jordan Field and Ohiri Field have been difficult places for visiting teams to take the field, with Harvard holding a 17-6-3 record at home since the start of the 2013-14 season.

After leading Harvard on the field, Harvard men's soccer's Andrew Wheeler-Omiunu '17 was selected with the second pick of the third round in the 2017 MLS  SuperDraft by Atlanta United FC. Wheeler-Omiunu was the eighth student-athlete in program history to be selected in the draft, and the first since 2013. He made his debut for the club in the US Open Cup first round.

At the Helm
Pieter Lehrer is in his fifth season as the Virginia B. and James O. Welch, Jr. '52 Head Coach for Harvard Men's Soccer in 2015, tallying a 37-22-8 record over four years. Each of Lehrer's teams has won at last four Ivy League games, with 17 players earning All-Ivy nods.

What's Next?
Harvard goes back on the road Saturday Sept. 16 against Boston University for a 7 p.m. tilt. The game will be broadcast on the Patriot League Network.
