PRINCETON, N.J. – Evan Mendez of the Harvard men's soccer team has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week for Sept. 14-20, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Mendez tallied his first shutout of the year against No. 9 Washington, tying a season-high with seven saves. The senior from Ballston Spa, New York recorded a 0.90 goals-against average over the weekend with 11 total saves. The shutout was the seventh of Mendez's career.
On the season, the goalkeeper boasts a 1.24 goals-against average and .778 save percentage. Harvard is 1-3-2 on the season and travels to Boston University on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. The contest can be seen live on the Patriot League Network.
