Harvard will host nine home games in 2014 (Gil Talbot).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A number of tough tests await the Harvard men’s soccer team, as the Crimson released its 2014 schedule Wednesday. Harvard will host nine home games at Soldiers Field Soccer Stadium/Ohiri Field in 2014, including three Ivy League contests.
The Crimson kicks off its fall slate with a trip to Washington, D.C., where it will open its season at Georgetown Sept. 5 and will take on George Washington two days later. A third straight road contest occurs Sept. 13 at St. John’s, before Harvard takes on Boston College Sept. 16 in its home opener. The match against the Eagles kicks off a four-game homestand, which will see Harvard face Hartford (Sept. 19), Manhattan (Sept. 21) and Northeastern (Sept. 23). Harvard travels to Amherst, Mass., to take on Massachusetts Sept. 26, before beginning Ivy League play.
Harvard opens its league slate with Yale at home Oct. 4 and stays at home the following weekend in a matchup with Cornell. The Crimson will be celebrating Alumni Day Oct. 11 during the matchup with the Big Red. Holy Cross visits Cambridge Oct. 15 before the Crimson battle Brown (Oct. 18) and Princeton (Oct. 25) on the road. Harvard hosts Stony Brook Oct. 28 and then finishes its Ivy schedule at Dartmouth (Nov. 1), home against Columbia (Nov. 8) and at Penn (Nov. 15).
A conference title is well within Harvard’s sights as the Crimson finished 2013 with a 7-8-2 overall mark and a 5-2 conference record, good for second in the final league standings.
