HAMDEN, CT – First-year forward John Farinacci scored a power play goal, but No. 15/16 Harvard men's ice hockey (7-5-1, 6-3-0 ECAC Hockey) fell, 6-1, to Quinnipiac (10-7-1, 5-3-1 ECAC Hockey) on Friday night (Jan. 3) at Frank Perrotti Jr. Arena.

First-year goaltender Mitchell Gibson (17 saves) and senior goaltender Cameron Gornet (seven saves) combined in net for Harvard.

In a game that was evenly played through the first 30 minutes, the host Bobcats scored five unanswered goals to pull away in the second and third periods

Quinnipiac scored on its first shot of the game, a shot from straight away through traffic from Karlis Cukste at 1:26.

Farinacci helped Harvard even the score with the Crimson on the power play late in the period. Sophomore defenseman Jack Rathbone fired a shot from straight away that was blocked in front. Farinacci picked up the rebound and scooped a backhander past Petruzzelli to make it 1-1 at 17:33. Sophomore forward Casey Dornbach also picke dup an assist on the play.

Gibson was fantastic for much of the second period, but the Bobcats potted two goals in the second half of the frame to take a two-goal lead heading into the third, with Odeen Tufto (11:54) and Ethan de Jong (PPG, 17:17) scoring for Quinnipiac.

The Bobcats added three more goals in the third period to put the game out of reach.

- Sophomore Casey Dornbach (assist) has six points (2-4-6) in his last four games, with a four game point scoring streak. He leads the team with 18 points (7-11-18) on the year.
- Harvard finished the night 1-for-2 on the man advantage and has a power play goal in 10 of its last 11 games. The Crimson is now 25.0% (11-for-44) on the man advantage for the season.
