Sean Malone was also the NCAA Hockey No. 1 star this week (Gil Talbot).
ALBANY, N.Y. – After leading the Crimson in scoring during its sweep of Rensselaer in the ECAC quarterfinals, Harvard junior forward Sean Malone has been recognized as the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week, as announced by the league office Tuesday.
Malone posted back-to-back three point performances to lead Harvard to 5-2 and 8-2 victories last weekend. Prior to the series with Rensselaer, Malone had just two games in his career with three points. On Friday, he went for two goals and an assist and then followed that up on Saturday with another tally and two helpers.
A West Seneca, New York native, Malone has 19 points and a plus-minus of +12 in 25 games this season.
Harvard travels to Lake Placid this weekend for the semifinals of the ECAC Tournament. The Crimson takes on St. Lawrence at 7:36 p.m. Friday at 1980 Rink – Herb Brooks Arena. A victory in that game would send Harvard to the championship against Quinnipiac or Dartmouth at the same time Saturday.
