  • Men’s Hockey Places 22 on the ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team

    ECAC Hockey announced Monday, July 27, the selection of 232 men’s hockey student-athletes to its 2014-15 All-Academic Team with 22 members of the Harvard Crimson earning selection. Ryan McGregor ’15 was recognized as Harvard’s selection to the Commissioner’s list as the top scholar in the program last season.
  • Hart, McNally and Michalek Each Inks Pro Contract

    In a busy week for former Harvard Crimson men’s ice hockey players, the trio of Brian Hart, Patrick McNally and Steve Michalek each signed multi-year professional contracts. Hart signed a three-year two-way NHL contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning, while McNally and Michalek agreed to two-year deals with the San Jose Sharks and Minnesota Wild, respectively.

  • Moy Selected by Nashville Predators in 2015 NHL Draft

    Rising junior forward Tyler Moy was selected over the weekend in the 2015 NHL Draft by the Nashville Predators. Moy was chosen in the sixth round (175th pick) by Nashville, joining teammate and rising senior Jimmy Vesey as draft picks of the organization.

    Harvard Athletics and the Harvard Varsity Club celebrated the Class of 2015 Wednesday night at the annual Senior Letterwinners’ Dinner, held on the Murr Center Indoor Tennis Courts. A record crowd of more than 900 guests was in attendance to honor both the athletic and academic accomplishments of this year’s graduating student-athletes.

  • Vesey Named HCA National College Hockey Player of the Month

    Harvard junior forward Jimmy Vesey has been selected as the Hockey Commissioners’ Association National Division I Player of the Month for March/April 2015 after leading the Crimson to the ECAC Hockey Tournament Championship and a trip to the NCAA Tournament, both feats last reached during the 2005-06 campaign for the Crimson.
  • Vesey Selected to the U.S. IIHF World Championship Team

    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Junior forward Jimmy Vesey has been selected to the United States’ IIHF World Championship team, as announced by USA Hockey Tuesday afternoon. The 2015 IIHF World Championship will be held in Prague and Ostrava, Czech Republic from May 1 – 17, 2015. This will not be Vesey’s first foray into international competition. In 2013, the North Reading, Massachusetts, native played an integral role in the U.S. Junior National Team’s gold medal effort at the IIHF World Junior Championship in Russia. Vesey played in seven games during that tournament, posting four assists and scoring once to finish +3. A 2012 third round draft pick of the Nashville Predators, Vesey is coming off an exemplary season for the Crimson. A Hobey Hat Trick finalist, he led the nation in goals with 32 and closed out the year with 58 points, good for third. In addition, Vesey was named the Walter Brown Award recipient, Player of the Year in the ECAC and Ivy League, as well as the Most Outstanding Player of the ECAC Tournament where he scored nine goals to set a new playoff record. The U.S. will participate in Group B in the preliminary round of the IIHF World Championships, beginning play on May 1 against Finland. Other opponents during the preliminary stage include Norway (May 2), Russia (May 4), Belarus (May7), Denmark (May 8), Slovenia (May 10) and Slovakia (May 12). Of the eight teams comprising Groups A and B, the top four will advance to the quarterfinals beginning on May 14. The semifinals will be held on May 16, with the title game slated for May 17 at O2 Arena.

  • Michalek, Vesey Earn Final ECAC Monthly Awards of the Season

    For the second time this season, Steve Michalek and Jimmy Vesey have been named the ECAC Goalie and Player of the Month, respectively. The duo captured those honors first back in November and the conference office announced Wednesday that they had earned the recognition once again for their performances during the month of March.
  • Banner Season Ends for Men’s Ice Hockey at the NCAA Tournament, 4-1, to Nebraska Omaha

    Competing in the NCAA Tournament after winning the ECAC Tournament crown a week ago, Harvard men’s ice hockey fell to Nebraska Omaha, 4-1, in the first round of the Midwest Regional. Jimmy Vesey scored his 32nd goal of the year in the third period to lead the Harvard offense, scoring his 58th point of the season.
