NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Teeing off for the third time this fall, Harvard men's golf placed seventh at the MacDonald Cup, held this weekend at the Course at Yale.
First-year Adam Xiao led the Crimson with an 11th-place result, finishing six-over across 54 holes. Sophomore Oliver Cordeiro took 17th at plus eight, while the Crimson combined to be 34 shots over par over the weekend.
Cordeiro led the Crimson through 18 holes, firing a bogey-free round of 68 (-2), while Xiao fired a one-over 71. First-year Brian Ma led the team over the second 18 holes on Saturday, tallying three birdies and a bogey for a 69 (-1).
After going a collective five-over and eight-over par through the first two rounds, respectively, the Crimson fired a 21-over 301 on the final day's action. Xiao paced the squad with a three-over 73, including an eagle on the par five 16th hole.
- Xiao was one of five players in the tournament to card an eagle. He has tallied the Crimson's top score in two tournaments this fall.
- Grant Fairbairn and Cordeiro led the team with seven birdies, while Ma led the team with 35 pars.
- Harvard took fourth place among Ivy League teams in the field.
