MILWAUKEE, Wisc. – Over the weekend, members of the men's and women's fencing team traveled to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to compete in the November North American Cup.
Filip Dolegiewicz dropped his first match of the day in men's saber before winning five straight exiting pool play. His 5-1 record and plus-16 touch differential earned him the 16 seed and a first-round bye in the elimination rounds.
In the elimination rounds Dolegiewicz advanced through to the championship and posted a plus-43 touch differential in the matches leading up. He was edged in the finals, 15-12, and finished second out of 256 competitors, receiving a silver medal.
In addition, Daniel Solomon also compete in men's saber and tied for 94th. Kenji Bravo competed in men's foil and tied for 22nd. For the women's team, Cynthia Liu competed in women's foil and placed 75th overall.
Jonas Hansen competed in Riga over the weekend in junior men's epee and placed 150th in his respective weapon. Junior Geoffrey Tourette competed in men's foil over in Germany at an Olympic Qualifying event. Tourette placed 54th and made it to day two of the event.
