CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior Eli Dershwitz and junior Duncan Rheingans-Yoo will lead the Harvard men's fencing team as captains for the 2018-19 campaign. As all captains at Harvard, the leadership posts were determined based on an election of the student-athletes on the team.
Dershwitz returns for his second consecutive season as co-captain after leading the Crimson to a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Championships last year. The Sherborn, Mass. native became the first men's fencer in program history to clinch back-to-back NCAA titles in sabre. Additionally, Dershwitz was crowned the individual champion in sabre at the Ivy League Championships for the second straight year.
Rheingans-Yoo will join Dershwitz as co-captain after finishing the 2017-18 season with a 49-16 overall record. The Columbia, Md. native earned himself a spot on the All-Ivy first team after tallying a 10-5 mark and plus-15 touch differential at the Ivy League Championships last year.
