  • Dershwitz Claims Gold at Pan American Games

    HAVANA, Cuba – Adding another gold medal in international competition to his impressive resume, rising senior co-captain Eli Dershwitz of the Harvard men’s fencing team earned a first-place finish in men’s sabre at the Pan American Championships this past weekend. Dershwitz helped Team USA to its fifth gold medal of the weekend in six events.

    Seoul, Korea – Eli Dershwitz of the Harvard men’s fencing team won his third medal in international competition this weekend, earning bronze in the sabre category for the United States at the Grand Prix in Seoul, Korea on March 30.
  • Dershwitz Clinches Second Straight NCAA Championship Crown

    UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Taking to the strip for the 2018 NCAA Championships at Penn State this weekend, March 22-25, Eli Dershwitz of the No. 2 Harvard men’s fencing team became a two-time NCAA Champion in the sabre category today. The junior co-captain defeated Wayne State’s Ziad Elsissy 15-14 in the final round to clinch his second straight individual crown and become the first men’s fencer in program history to win back-to-back titles. Dershwitz helped Harvard to a fifth-place overall finish in this year’s tournament.
  • Harvard Sends 10 Fencers to NCAA Championships

    The Harvard fencing program’s quest for its second national title begins Thursday, March 22 as 10 Crimson fencers head to University Park, Pa. for the 2018 NCAA National Championships. Over the course of four days, Harvard will compete at the Indoor Multi-Sport Facility at Penn State for individual and team crowns as well as All-America honors. The men will compete on the strip March 22-23 to open the competition with the women closing the event March 24-25.

    WALTHAM, Mass. – The No. 2 Harvard men’s fencing team sent 10 team members to compete in the NCAA Northeast Regionals tonight, March 11, hosted by Brandeis. Within six top-10 finishes across the three divisions, freshman Geoffrey Tourette claimed gold for the Crimson in foil with his first-place finish.

Brandeis is set to host the NCAA Northeast Regionals in Waltham, Mass.

    Last year as a freshman, I wasn’t sure how I was going to fit in with the fencing team. I was a quieter type, and it seemed like many of my teammates were louder and more boisterous than me. Add that I was a walk-on, and while the team didn’t treat me any differently than the recruits, I still felt a little out of place, like I didn’t quite belong.

    BOSTON, Mass. - The No. 1 Harvard men's fencing team clinched its 11th straight Beanpot championship Wednesday night, Feb. 14 at MIT. The Crimson tallied wins over host MIT, Boston College and Brandeis in the annual tournament. Harvard has now secured the Beanpot trophy every year since the inception of the tournament in 2007.

The Crimson has secured a 14-1 overall record, going 4-1 in Ivy play, its best record since the 2014-15 season.

    PRINCETON, N.J. – Harvard men’s fencers Erwin Cai, Eli Dershwitz, Duncan Rheingans-Yoo and Geoffrey Tourette have received All-Ivy honors, earning a place on the All-Ivy first team after the 2018 Ivy League Championships as announced by the league today. Harvard has now placed at least one member on an All-Ivy team in each of the last 25 years.

Harvard has now improved its overall record to 14-1 and 4-1 in Ivy play, its best record since the 2014-15 season.

    PADOUE, Italy – Eli Dershwitz of the men’s fencing team won his second gold medal of the year in international competition, earning the championship in the sabre category for the United States at the Senior World Cup Italy. The tournament, which took place Friday, Feb. 2, featured 212 top fencers from around the world.
