CAMBRIDGE, Mass.–David Ringham has joined the Harvard lightweight crew coaching staff as a volunteer assistant, head coach Charley Butt announced Friday.
A USRowing Level I certified coach, Ringham served as the head assistant coach for the Pennsylvania Athletic Club Rowing Association Juniors and the head men’s novice coach for the Michigan State club crew. For PACRA, Ringham was directly responsible for the third and fourth eights, as well as all Junior B lineups. He coached two of those teams to first-place finishes at the U.S. Rowing Club Nationals. He also led the MSU lightweight novice eight to a 2010 Dad Vail Regatta championship.
As a rower with the PACRA, Ringham spent four summers as at pre-elite racing camps. At the USRowing Club Nationals, he finished in third place in the senior eight in 2008, first place in 2008 with the senior coxed four and third place in 2009 with the senior coxed four.
At Michigan State, Ringham was not only responsible for the oversight of the club crew at Michigan State, as vice president in 2006-07 and president in 2007-08, but he also earned third-team American Collegiate Rowing Association All-America selection in 2008 as a rower.
Ringham is a 2010 graduate of Michigan State University. He has bachelor’s degrees in physics and chemical physics, both with honors, with an additional major in astrophysics. He was named a second-team ACRA Academic All-American in 2008.
