No. 4 Men’s Heavyweight Crew Faces No. 6 Northeastern for Smith Cup

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The fourth-ranked Harvard men's heavyweight crew team will host No. 6 Northeastern on the Charles River Saturday morning beginning at 8:20 a.m. The regatta is the final regular season matchup for the Crimson and the winner takes home the Charlie Smith Cup.

LAST WEEK
Harvard notched wins against Navy and Penn last weekend to capture the Adams Cup, as well as the Clothier Trophy. The first varsity eight defeated Penn by 6.6 seconds, with the second, third and fourth varsity boats also earning victories. The wins pushed Harvard to 5-1 this spring.

SCOUTING NORTHEASTERN
The Huskies will be looking to bounce back from loss in the first varsity race to Brown last weekend. Northeastern's second, third and fourth varsity boats all secured wins over the Bears. Northeastern has wins this spring over Penn and Boston University, as well as a third-place finish at the San Diego Crew Classic.

CHARLIE SMITH CUP HISTORY
Winners of 26 Smith Cups, including 20-straight, Harvard has won 35 of 38 races in the series against Northeastern. Starting in 1989, the trophy is named for Charlie Smith, a boatman at Harvard for 10 years and at Northeastern for five.
