No. 5 Men’s Heavyweight Crew Earns Adams Cup and Clothier Trophy

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The No. 5 Harvard men's heavyweight crew earned the Adams Cup winning the varsity eight race against No. 15 Penn and No. 16 Navy, and also earned the Clothier Trophy as the top points scorer.

Conditions on the Severn River in Annapolis, Maryland featured a six to 10 mile per hour tailwind against incoming tide. The tailwind increased throughout the morning.

The first varsity eight was second race of the day and the Crimson posted a strong showing, clocking in at 5:59.7, 6.6 seconds faster than runner-up Penn and 10-seconds faster than Navy. The second varsity posted a more dominant victory, racing its way to a nine-second triumph over the Midshipmen.

The Crimson's third and fourth varsity eight boats notched nearly identical margins of victory, racing past the Midshipmen by five seconds each.
