Men’s Heavyweight Crew Alumni Compete in USA National Selection Regatta

Michael DiSanto '12 earned the opportunity to compete at the World Rowing Cup II (Casey Hart).

CHULA VISTA, Calif. – Harvard men's heavyweight crew alumni posted strong performances last week in the USA National Selection Regatta. The event, held at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California from March 21-24 saw four former Crimson student-athletes compete.

Mike DiSanto '12 finished atop the podium, crossing the finish line first in the Men's 2- Final A. Henrik Rummel '09 finished fifth in the same race. Andrew Reed '14 and Parker Washburn '13 sat in the same boat, finishing second in the Men's 2- Final B.

The win for DiSanto and his rowing partner, Rob Munn, grants the pair a right to represent the United States at the World Rowing Cup II in Lucerne, Switzerland in May. A top four finish at that event would earn the duo an invitation to the 2016 Olympic Games.

DiSanto and Rummel earned invitations to the United States "big boat" selection camps by finishing within the top six boats in the regatta. Team U.S.A's eights and fours will be selected at the camps for competition in the upcoming Olympics.
