Men’s Heavyweight Crew Posts Strong Showing at Head of the Oklahoma

NORMAN, Okla. – Harvard heavyweight crew wrapped competition at the Head of the Oklahoma over the weekend, besting its 2014 time by four seconds and finishing the race second overall in 1:18.98.

The Crimson edged out the second place collegiate-finishing boat, Oklahoma City, by less than a second. Harvard's boat, led by captain James Croxford, junior Adam Janes and senior Achim Harzheim, was just ahead of Oklahoma City's crew that finished with a time of 1:19.96. The USTC – Oklahoma City crew finished in 1:18.23.

Facing a strong headwind and stiff competition, including a U.S. Rowing team, the Crimson posted a strong showing in the preliminaries to advance to the 500 meter grand final.  Finishing first, Harvard clocked a time of 13:15.13, ahead of OKC's A boat finish of 13:23.86. Oregon State, OKC's B boat, and Washington rounded out the top five with times of 13.32.18, 14:15.25, and 15:15.59, respectively.
