Harvard Heavyweight Eight First of Collegiate Squads at 50th HOCR

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard heavyweight crew took third overall – and first among collegiate squads – in the championship eights event at the 50th Head of the Charles Regatta. The Crimson bested the U.S. and French national crew teams with a time of 14:29.66. 

Harvard ranked just behind Craftsbury, the "Sculling Great Eight" (14:20.23) and Taurus, the "Sweep Great Eight" (14:23.59).

The Crimson boat, coxed by senior Jack Smith, contained stroke senior Charles Risbey, senior James Medway, junior James Croxford, senior Max Meyer-Bosse, sophomore Ross Jarvis, sophomore James Johnston, junior Adam Janes, junior Rory Glover.

The second varsity, coxed by Jessi Izhakoff, placed 30th with a time of 15.39.44.

The 2009 alumni boat, coxed by Tope Amos,  placed 15th overall with a time of 15:49.82. In the Directors' Challenge men's quads event, the Harvard Alumni 1978 boat placed 17th with a time of 18:47.26.
