Heavyweight Crew Travels to China for International Rowing Regatta

Harvard is one of nine schools competing in the 2009 International University Rowing Regatta in China this weekend. Nine members of the senior class will represent the Crimson on the five-day trip to the Yunnan Province.

The Crimson boat will be comprised of Kelly Evans (cox), Blake Pucsek (stroke), Noah Bruegmann (seven seat), Richard Anderson (six seat), Duncan Gilchrist (five seat), Mark Fuller (four seat), Spencer Livingston (three seat), Ivan Posavec (two seat) and Chris Fuller (bow).

Harvard and Yale were invited to attend the event by the China Water Sports Administration Center. They will compete against two other universities from abroad (Cambridge University and the University of London) and five Chinese universities - Beijing, Tsinghua, Fudan, Shanghai and Jiaotong.

All nine crews will arrive in Kunming City on Aug. 28. The following day, the crews will train and begin competition, with the races ending on Aug. 30. The teams will enjoy a day of touring Kunming City before departing the area of Sept. 1.

Pucsek, the 2010 heavyweight captain, has created a blog for an inside look into the Crimson's trip. Click here to keep up with Harvard's travels.
