CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Heading to the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) for the second-consecutive season, and the third time in program history, Harvard men's basketball will travel to Georgetown in the opening round on Wednesday, March 20. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2, and will be played on Georgetown's campus at McDonough Arena.
Harvard is the sixth seed in its bracket, and will travel to the third-seeded Hoyas for a 7 p.m. tip-off on March 20. The NIT berth is the second in-a-row for the Crimson, which faced Marquette as a seven seed in the 2018 tournament. In total, the postseason berth is Harvard's eighth in the past 10 seasons.
Georgetown has posted a 19-13 record on the season, including a 9-9 mark in Big East play. Harvard draws a Big East team in the opening round for the second-straight season, with the Crimson looking for its first win in four tries against the Hoyas on Wednesday.
The Crimson claimed its seventh Ivy League Championship in program history, and enters the NIT with an 18-11 overall record (10-4 Ivy League). The title was Harvard's second in-a-row, and gave the Crimson back-to-back championships for the first time since winning five-straight from 2011-15.
