Men's and Women's Basketball Unleash the Crimson Madness

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—The Harvard men's and women's basketball teams kicked off their seasons Saturday night, welcoming fans to Lavietes Pavilion for 2018 Crimson Madness.

The night's festivities featured the men's and women's teams in various skill showcases, including a dunk contest and three-point competition, with a men's Crimson versus White scrimmage to cap off the evening. The night gave fans their first look at the 2018-19 teams before they officially open up regular season play next month.

Robert Baker became the 2018 dunk contest champion after sinking a dunk off an assist from the bleachers from teammate Seth Towns.

Dominating the three-point contest, the duo of Sydney Skinner and Christian Juzang combined for an impressive score of 23 points to become this year's champions.

The men closed out the evening with an intra-squad scrimmage, with the Crimson and White deadlocked at 41-41 at the end of two halves. Juzang hit the game-tying at the buzzer to even the score for the White team. Crimson's Justin Bassey led all-scorers with 15 points, while guard Rio Haskett kept close behind with 12 points for the White.

The men host MIT to open their season on Nov. 6 at 7 p.m in Lavietes Pavilion. The women open on the road at Notre Dame on Nov. 9 at 4 p.m.
