Seven Incoming Freshmen to Join Men’s Basketball as Class of 2020

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Tommy Amaker, The Thomas G. Stemberg '71 Family Endowed Coach for Harvard Men's Basketball, has announced the addition of seven incoming freshmen as members of the class of 2020; Bryce Aiken, Robert Baker, Justin Bassey, Christian Juzang, Chris Lewis, Seth Towns, and Henry Welsh.

The seven freshmen will join 13 returning letterwinners from last year's team as the Crimson looks to capture its sixth Ivy League championship in seven years and reach the NCAA tournament for a fifth time in six years.

Bryce Aiken | Guard | 6-0 | 175 | Randolph, N.J. | The Patrick School
Played three seasons at The Patrick School after spending his freshman year at Pope John … Served as captain at The Patrick School as a junior and senior … Helped The Patrick School win the Union County Tournament and reach the South Jersey, Non-Public B semifinals … Also helped The Patrick School reach the final of the City of Palms Classic … Received All-State and All-County honors as a senior, in addition to being named to the City of Palms All-Tournament Team, Dan Finn Classic MVP and HoopHall Classic MVP … Went for 20 points and seven assists as a member of Team East at the Jordan Brand Classic Regional All-Star Game at Barclay's Center ... McDonalds All-America Nominee … Was a member of the National Honor Society as a junior and senior, volunteered for the Special Olympics as a sophomore, junior, and senior, and was an AVID Program volunteer as a senior … Mother, Diana, was a gymnast at UConn while his father, Daryl, ran track and field.

Robert Baker | Forward | 6-10 | 202 | Woodstock, Ga. | The Walker School
Four-year starter on the basketball team at The Walker School and earned two varsity letters as a member of the baseball team … Served as captain of the basketball team at The Walker School for three seasons … Received first team All-State, All-Region, All-County, and team MVP honors as a junior and senior … Graduated as The Walker School's all-time leading scorer with 1,535 career points … McDonalds All-America Nominee … Was a member of the National Latin Honor Society and a National Latin Exam Gold Medalist … Was also a four-year member of the Latin Club, concert band, and jazz band, and was a member of the chess club.

Justin Bassey | Guard | 6-5 | 210 | Denver, Col. | Colorado Academy
Four-year letterwinner at Colorado Academy … Served as captain as a junior and senior … Tabbed as the All-State Player of the Year in 2015 and 2016 … Named to the All-Colorado team as a junior and senior, was a three-time All-State first team pick (2013, 2014, 2015), and earned second team All-State honors as a freshman … Selected to play in the Colorado High School All-Star Game as a sophomore, junior, and senior … Graduated as Colorado Academy's all-time leading scorer with 2,159 career points … Served as a mentor and guest speaker for Project Greer Street … Helped establish an annual charitable basketball tournament at Colorado Academy.

Christian Juzang | Guard | 6-2 | 175 | Tarzana, Calif. | Viewpoint School
Four-year starter on the basketball team at Viewpoint School … Served as captain as a sophomore, junior, and senior … Helped Viewpoint School to the 2016 CIF Division 4A championship and to a regional finals appearance at the California State Tournament … Named the CIF Player of the Year and All-CIF first team as a senior, All-CIF second team as a junior … Also tabbed to the Gold Coast League first team as a senior and was a two-time Gold Coast League second team selection as a sophomore and junior … Graduated as Viewpoint School's all-time leading scorer … Named to the Headmaster's List and Honor Roll all four years of high school … Extracurricular activities included Project Knapsack and Operation Gratitude.

Four-year letterwinner at Milton High School … Served as captain as a junior and senior … Helped Milton reach the semifinals of the 2016 Georgia State Tournament … Named the 2016 Region 6 AAAAAA Player of the Year … Two-time All-State second team (2015, 2016) and All-Region first team (2015, 2016) selection … Recognized as a Naismith Honoree as a senior and participated at the Under Armor All-America camp … McDonalds All-America Nominee … 2016 AJC Cup award recipient for exceptional performance among high school students in the metro Atlanta area ... Four-year starter at Northland High School … Served as captain as a junior and senior … Set school records for points in a career (2,018), single-season (759), and game (47) … Earned first team All-State honors as a junior and senior … Named District Player of the Year as a junior and senior, and first team All-City as a sophomore, junior, and senior …  Also competed in track and field as a junior and in cross country as a senior … Was a member of the National Honor Society … Placed second in the NESB National Tri-Math-A-Lon competition … Named to the Super Honor Roll all 16 quarters of high school … Served as the Stem Club academic chair as a senior and was a peer tutor.

Henry Welsh | Forward/Center | 6-10 | 250 | Redondo Beach, Calif. | Loyola
Three-year letterwinner at Loyola High School … Served as captain as a junior and senior … Named first team All-Mission League as a junior and senior, and All-CIF Southern Section as a senior … Received Loyola's Team MVP and Team Leadership awards as a senior, was the recipient of the 2015 Coach's Award, and twice earned the Team Scholar-Athlete Award (2015, 2016) … Also tabbed to the Beverly Hills All-Tournament Team in 2014 and 2015, and to the El Segundo All-Tournament Team in 2015 … McDonalds All-America Nominee … Was the salutatorian of Loyola High School's Class of 2016 … Was a member of the Cum Laude Society as a junior and senior while also receiving the school's Outstanding Junior Award in 2015 and Outstanding Sophomore Award in 2014 … Community service activities included volunteer work at Holy Name of Jesus Elementary School and Stain Thomas the Apostle Elementary School, and serving as an HSPT tutor for eighth grade students … Mother, Kathy, played volleyball at Santa Clara … Brother, Thomas, plays basketball at UCLA and is a member of the Class of 2018.
