CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Sophomore goalkeeper Ellie Shahbo was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced today.

Shahbo was excellent in two starts against Yale and New Hampshire this past weekend, recording five saves in the 2-1 win over the Bulldogs in Harvard's Ivy opener. She notched three saves against the Wildcats on Saturday to earn another win, improving to 5-1 on the season.

In her second year at Harvard, Shahbo has emerged as one of the nation's top goalkeepers. She leads the Ivy League with a 1.25 goals-against average, and has allowed one goal or less in five of her seven starts this season.

Harvard will play two home games next weekend, starting with Ivy foe Penn on Saturday (Oct. 5) at noon. The Crimson will host Liberty on Sunday (Oct. 6) at 1 p.m. Both games will air on ESPN+.
