CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—Sue Caples, head coach of the Harvard field hockey team, has been named to the Board of Coaches for the Alliance of Women Coaches, the Alliance has announced.
The Alliance is a new organization created to provide professional development opportunities for current female coaches, enhance their advancement and to increase the number of women coaches in all sports at all levels. The Alliance aims to provide the unique opportunity to network and share ideas with women coaches from all sports, divisions and levels including college, high school and club programs. This network is also designed to support female coaches at various phases of their careers.
Caples is one of 14 coaches and administrators from seven different sports named to the Board of Coaches. She is the only active field hockey coach serving on the board.
Caples is set to begin her 24th season as Harvard's head coach in 2011. She has led the Crimson to four NCAA tournament berths, three Ivy League titles and six ECAC tournament appearances. Under Caples' guidance, Harvard has produced 10 All-America selections, four Ivy League Players of the Year, three Ivy Rookies of the Year, 46 all-region selections and 39 picks to the All-Ivy League first team.
