DANBURY, Conn. – Harvard football seniors Liam Shanahan and Brogan McPartland were named to the 2019 Division I FCS All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Second Team. Shanahan was one of six offensive linemen recognized, while McPartland was one of three on the defensive line.
A native of Marlborough, Massachusetts, Shanahan was a staple on the offensive line, starting all 10 games, while helping Harvard average 243.3 yards through the air and 153.2 yards on the ground. The senior was part of a unit that blocked for a pair of all-Ivy League running backs in Devin Darrington (all-Ivy second team) and Aidan Borguet (Ivy League Rookie of the Year).
On the other side of the ball, McPartland was a tough assignment on the defensive line, leading the Ivy League with 9.5 sacks and adding 13.5 tackles for loss. After missing the first three games of the campaign, the senior from Stephens City, Virginia finished tied for the seventh-most tackles on the team with 36.
The ECAC accolades come after both were honored as first-team all-Ivy League performers and all-New England selections.
