Football’s Jake McIntyre Wins Nils V. “Swede” Nelson Award

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard football senior kicker Jake McIntyre has won the 74th annual Nils V. "Swede" Nelson Award from the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston. The award recognizes exceptional achievement in sportsmanship, academics and athletics.

One of two award winners this season, McIntyre represents the area's FBS/FCS schools, while Springfield College senior center Nick Bainter is NCAA Div. II/III winner.

Hailing from Orlando, Florida, McIntyre finished his Harvard career as the school's all-time leader in field goals (39) and is second all-time among all Crimson players and kickers with 229 points. He also booted the second-most PATs in school history (112).

In the classroom, McIntyre has excelled while studying statistics, earning CoSIDA Academic All-District honors the last two seasons.

McIntyre will be honored at the Bob Whelan College Football Awards Night on Thursday, Dec. 19, at the Boston Marriott Burlington. The social hour is set to begin at 6 p.m., with the dinner and program to follow at 7 p.m.
