Eight Harvard Football Alumni Compete Under Game’s Brightest Lights

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Through four weeks of the National Football League season, Harvard Football alumni continue to compete and have an impact. Eight Harvard alumni are on eight different 53-man rosters, with seven having appeared in at least one game at the season's quarter point. The Crimson's eight alumni in the NFL are the most amongst Ivy League institutions. 

Kyle Juszczyk '13

San Francisco 49ers

Arguably the league's best fullback, Kyle Juszczyk has appeared in three games for the San Francisco 49ers. In Week 3 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Juszczyk caught three pases for 51 yards, including a highlight reel clip in which the Medina, Ohio native shoved off a would-be tackler en-route to a 22-yard gain. Juszczyk has helped the 49ers to the only undefeated record in the NFC.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Cameron Brate, a tight end for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has seen action in all four of Tampa Bay's games, and has racked up nine catches for 168 yards on just 10 targets. That 90 percent catch rate ranks first in the NFL according to Football Outsiders amongst tight ends with at least eight targets.

Seattle Seahawks

Tyler Ott is the exclusive long-snapper for the Seattle Seahawks this season, having appeared in all five Seahawk matchups. Ott, a former Economics concentrator at Harvard, signed a three-year extension with the Seahawks in July 2019

Miami Dolphins

Miami Dolphins quarterback and 2005 Harvard alumnus Ryan Fitzpatrick has appeared in a trio of games on South Beach. He has completed 27-52 passes for 303 yards, adding one touchdown and 14 rushing yards with the Fins.

Chicago Bears

Ferdinand, Ohio native Ben Braunecker has appeared in all four of Chicago's games this season. In the team's second game at Denver, Braunecker recorded a pair of receptions on three targets for 24 total yards.

New Orleans Saints

A two-time first-team all-Ivy League selection in 2013 and 2014, Nick Easton has appeared in three games for the 3-1 Saints. Prior to coming to New Orleans, Easton competed in 23 games for the Minnesota Vikings. At Harvard, in addition to being selected for the all-Ivy League team, Easton was named to the AP FCS All-America third team.

Tennesse Titans tight end Anthony Firkser has seen action in three Titan games. A former applied mathematics concentrator at Harvard, Firkser has been targeted 20 times with 19 receptions in 15 NFL games.

An all-Ivy selection in 2015, Adam Redmond is in his third season in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys. In two-plus seasons, Redmond has played in 14 games with the Indianapolis Colts and Dallas Cowboys.
