CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard football quarterback Jake Smith has earned this week's New England Football Writers Association Gold Helmet Awards presented by the Jack Grinold Eastern Massachusetts Chapter of the National Football Foundation.

A junior from Ithaca, Michigan, Smith completed 22 of his 29 pass attempts last Friday vs. Brown for 299 yards and a career-high four touchdowns. The third-year signal-caller now is averaging 312 yards passing and has connected for a career-high seven touchdowns through two games.

UMass Dartmouth QB Stephen Gacioch also received a Gold Helmet after amassing 409 yards of total offense (305 passing, 104 rushing) and accounting for all three touchdowns in the Corsairs' 21-14 triumph over Plymouth State.
