BOSTON -- The 135th Playing of "The Game" between Harvard and Yale will be held at Fenway Park on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018, Fenway Sports Management announced today.
"We are very excited to face our historic rival at Fenway Park, a landmark of New England sports," said Bob Scalise, The John D. Nichols '53 Family Director of Athletics. "This will be a special experience for our student-athletes, student body, alumni and fans, and we are proud to partner with Fenway Sports Management for "The Game" next year."
"I have been a Red Sox and Fenway Park fan since the 1967 pennant race," said Tim Murphy, The Thomas Stephenson Family Head Coach for Harvard Football. "To me, Fenway is a super fan experience, and I know our student-athletes will be very excited about playing our biggest rival at a sold out Fenway Park."
Built in 1912 and located at 4 Yawkey Way near Kenmore Square, Fenway Park is the oldest park in Major League Baseball. Besides being the home of the Boston Red Sox, Fenway Park has been the site of many other sporting competitions, cultural events and professional and college football games.
Harvard and Yale will be meeting on the gridiron for the 135th time, dating back to a 4-0 victory for the Crimson in the inaugural meeting in 1875. The meeting at Fenway Park will mark the first time since 1912 that "The Game" will be played at a location other than Harvard Stadium or the Yale Bowl.
