CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard football senior captain Sean Ahern has been named to the 2016 Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List, the organization announced. Ahern, a two-time All-Ivy league defensive back, was the lone FCS candidate among the honorees.
Established by The Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation, The Lott IMPACT Trophy honors college football's best in character and performance. The award is unique because it represents the first college football award to give equal weight to personal character as well as athletic performance from a defensive college player. Named for Ronnie Lott, the accolade recognizes college football's Defensive Player of the Year who best exemplifies the IMPACT acronym: Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.
An All-New England selection, Ahern will lead the three-time defending Ivy League champion Crimson team in 2016. Harvard opens with Rhode Island Sept. 16 at 7 p.m.
