Football Announces 2016 Schedule

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard football team will play five home games, including the 133rd playing of The Game against Yale, in 2016, as the Crimson announced its schedule this week.

Harvard, which will be entering its 143rd season, will begin play at home against Rhode Island Friday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. Following the Ivy League opener at Brown Saturday, Sept. 24, the Crimson will host back-to-back games at Harvard Stadium against Georgetown Friday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. and Cornell Saturday, Oct. 8.

The Crimson, led by Tim Murphy, who is in his 23rd campaign as The Thomas Stephenson Family Head Coach for Harvard Football, will then play three-consecutive road games for the first time in the Ivy League era (since 1956). Harvard will begin the road swing at Holy Cross Saturday, Oct. 15, followed by trips to Princeton Saturday, Oct. 22 and Dartmouth Saturday, Oct. 29.

Entering November, Columbia will visit Cambridge Saturday, Nov. 5, and the Crimson will head to Philadelphia for a matchup with Penn Saturday, Nov. 12.

On Senior Day, Harvard will play host to Yale for the 133rd Playing of The Game Saturday, Nov. 19. The Crimson has defeated its archrival for a series-record ninth-straight times.

In 2015, Harvard finished 9-1 overall and 6-1 in the Ivy League, earning a share of its third-straight conference championship. The Crimson posted a 5-0 record on the road and has won a program-record 15-straight road games overall, dating back to the 2013 season.
