CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard quarterback Conner Hempel and Stonehill quarterback Logan Meyer have been chosen as the fourth recipients of the Ray Gallant Insurance New England Football Writers' Gridiron Club of Great Boston Golden Helmet Awards.

In his first career start, Hempel paced Harvard to a 42-20 victory of San Diego in the Crimson's season opener. The Union, Ky., native was 25-of-34 for a career-best 345 yards and four touchdowns, while also adding 38 yards on nine carries. The junior signal caller completed eight straight passes and went 20-of-27 for 306 yards in the second half alone. Hempel was tabbed Ivy League Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Meyer completed 27-of-49 passes for 372 yards and five touchdowns as he marshaled Stonehill to a 41-38 overtime victory at Assumption College in record-breaking fashion. The senior has now recorded 48 career touchdown passes, surpassing the previous school record of 46 set in 1995. His total yards is the third-highest single-game total and he is the only 5,000-yard passer in program history.  Myer tossed a 47-yard bomb to even the score at 35 to force overtime. In the extra frame, the signal caller found Gordon McLeod for a 14-yard touchdown pass that locked up the win.
