Football Prognosticators Tab Harvard as Ivy Favorite

Two well-known Ivy League football preseason prognosticators have tabbed Harvard as their favorite to win the league in 2011 with The Sports Network and Phil Steele's College Football Preview Magazine both leaning toward the Crimson.

No doubt, this year's Ivy race will be tight. The Ivy League preseason media poll had Penn picked in the top slot with 12 out of 17 first place votes following by Harvard (2), Yale (1), Brown (2) and Dartmouth.

The Sports Network has Harvard, behind its preseason Defensive Player of the Year Josue Ortiz, followed by Brown, Penn, Yale and Dartmouth while Phil Stelle's had Harvard followed by Yale, Penn, Dartmouth and Brown. Factoring heavily perhaps in both previews is the fact that Harvard hosts Brown, Dartmouth and Penn at Harvard Stadium while only traveling to consensus contender Yale.

Harvard opens its 2011 season on Sept. 17 at Holy Cross before opening its home and Ivy League slate on Sept. 23 against Brown at 7 p.m.
