Harvard's Collin Zych Earns Another Preseason Player of the Year Honor

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard’s Collin Zych has been named as the Ivy League Preseason Defensive Player of the Year by the College Sporting News as part of its 2010 FCS Yearbook edition. Earlier this week, Zych was named to the same honor by The Sporting News and has also earned the honor from Lindy's.

Zych, the Harvard captain, has been named to three different preseason All-America teams and also has an invitation to the Football Championship Subdivision Senior Scout Bowl later this year.

Announced at the league’s annual media day, Harvard was picked by the national media to win the Ivy League championship this fall. The College Sporting News also picked Harvard to win the Ivy league this season - matching predictions by The Sports Network and the 2010 Ivy League Media Poll.

Zych, the focus of a recent Boston Globe article as well, had 73 total tackles a year ago (53 solo) with 14 passes defended and two forced fumbles.

Harvard kicks-off the 2010 season at home against defending Patriot League champion Holy Cross in a 7 p.m. game at Harvard Stadium on Saturday, September 18. 

The Crimson begins its Ivy League schedule at Brown on Saturday, September 25, in the first night game played at Brown Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 6:00 p.m. under a temporary lighting system.

Harvard will have all five of its home games streamed on with play-by-play commentary from Bernie Corbett. In a new offering this season, member fans will be able to watch the complete games as archived events, starting a few hours following each contest.
