PRINCETON, N.J. – For the second time in the three weeks, baseball's Buddy Hayward has been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week. Hayward made his first career start and earned his first collegiate win in game two against Presbyterian.
On the mound, Hayward pitched six of seven innings in game two of the doubleheader on March 9. He allowed just five hits and one run, and struck out six batters while only walking one. Hayward's performance lead Harvard to a 2-1 win and a sweep of day one in Clinton, S.C.
The Plantation, Fla. native also made appearances at bat in three of four contests, totaling three RBI, and ran in the game-winning run in the Crimson's 10-5 win in game four.
Harvard returns to action tomorrow, March 13 for a 6 p.m. matchup with Davidson.
