Reynolds, McGuiggan, Larrow Earn All-Ivy League Baseball Honors

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard placed three players on the 2012 All-Ivy League baseball team in an announcement made from the league office late Friday afternoon. Senior Jeff Reynolds (St. Petersburg, Fla.) earned first team honors at the second base position; sophomore Jake McGuiggan (Hingham, Mass.) earned second team honors at shortstop; and Kyle Larrow (Carver, Mass.) was an honorable mention selection at third base.

Reynolds capped a fine career with a .333 batting average to exactly match his career numbers. One of only two players to start all 42 games, Reynolds led Harvard with 54 hits (second in the league), 17 extra base hits and 24 runs batted in. He hit .355 against right-handed pitchers and a robust .390 with runners in scoring position. Against Ivy competition, Reynolds batted .373 with 11 extra base hits in 20 games.

Reynolds finishes his career with 177 hits in 351 at bats (.333) covering 147 games and 140 starts. He totaled 49 extra base hits including 37 doubles, with 76 RBI and a .376 on-base-percentage. He was also 2-0 on the mound in seven appearances.

McGuiggan came on strong in the second half of the year. The sophomore led Harvard with a .352 average in 37 games, good for sixth-best in the Ivy League. He had 11 doubles and two homers to go with 21 runs batted in. He batted .403 in league play for the third-highest average and produced 10 of his extra base hits in those 19 games.

Larrow consistently provided timely hitting when called upon and put together a career year playing primarily at third base for the first time at Harvard. The Carver, Mass. native posted a .350 average during the season with a .377 mark and a .459 on-base-percentage in league play.
