Baseball Drops 11-2 Decision at Bethune-Cookman

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Harvard scored a pair of early runs but Bethune-Cookman carried the day with a pair of big innings as the Wildcats down the Crimson, 11-2.

The Crimson reached the board first in the second, taking advantage of the lone BCU error on the night, followed up by an RBI single to left center from Mike Martin.

In the bottom of the inning, the Wildcats scored their first run on a bases loaded walk before tying the game on a run-scoring single. A two-run double followed for a 4-2 lead and an RBI single by Juan Pizarro in the third inning made it a 5-2 BCU lead.

A Harvard wild pitch put runners in scoring position in the sixth, and another set off a big inning, as Pizarro scored. A hit and another error was followed by the big blow, a two-run single to right center from last nights' hero Anthony Stokes.

Starter Jairo Acevedo (1-0) was credited with the win but only threw four innings in which he didn't walk a batter and had three strikeouts. In the fifth, he made the position switch with Pizarro, who threw four more with three strikeouts and one walk

Andrew Ferreira (0-1) took the loss for Harvard, allowing eight hits in five innings although the left did strike out six batters.
