Baseball Falls at Mercer, 14-3

ATLANTA, Ga. – Mercer scored six times in the first inning en route to a 14-3 win over the Harvard baseball team on Monday night in the first game of a two-game series.
Harvard (0-9) starter Sam Dodge didn't get out of the first inning as control issues led to four free passes while two hits aided in the six-run inning for Mercer (15-4).
All but one Mercer starter had a hit as the Bears out-hit Harvard, 14-8.
Jeff Hajdin made his first start in the outfield and was 1-for-3 with an RBI single, a sacrifice fly and an assist. Middle infield combination Jack McGuiggan and Jeff Reynolds each had two hits.
Chris Newell earned the win, going five innings and striking out four against two runs while JT Odom also had four punch outs in 2.0 innings of solid relief.
