Andrew Chesebro joined the Harvard Varsity Club as Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications in August of 2016.

Prior to his time with the Varsity Club, Chesebro joined Harvard's Office of Athletic Communications (OAC) in September of 2011 and was promoted to associate director in April of 2014. He serves as the primary contact for Harvard's nationally prominent men's basketball team, men’s lacrosse, men's volleyball, women’s volleyball, men's golf, women's golf and sailing, and also assists with football. He formerly served as the primary contact for women's basketball, men's swimming and diving, women's swimming and diving, women's lacrosse, men's water polo and women's water polo.

In his role, Chesebro is responsible for coordinating all media relations, communications and multimedia efforts for his assigned sports including press conferences and media availabilities, press releases, in-game statistics, live video streaming, video highlights and social media. Chesebro also handles all media requests for his coaching staffs and student-athletes, including men's basketball head coach Tommy Amaker and 2012 Olympians Temi Fagbenle (women’s basketball), Alex Meyer (men’s open water swimming) and Tim Murphy (head coach of Team USA open water swimming).

Chesebro will serve as the media coordinator for the 2017 and 2018 NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championships hosted at Gillette Stadium, working closely with the NCAA and Gillette Stadium staff's to sevice the more than 300 media members expected to be in attendance each year. In 2012 he worked in a similar capacity as the press box coordinator for the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championships held at Gillette Stadium.

Chesebro is the co-chair of Harvard's Social Media Committee, helping to shape the department's social media strategy and advising student-athletes and coaches on how social media can enhance their personal brand. Harvard Athletics boasts the largest social media following in the Ivy League with more than 14,000 followers on Twitter, 7,000 followers on Instagram, and 23,000 Likes on Facebook.

Among his other duties, Chesebro has also been responsible for creating and managing the “Around The Yard: Life As A Harvard Student-Athlete” blog series, managing the OAC’s volunteer internship program and game-day staff, overseeing long-term digitization and archival projects, and is a member of the department’s Student-Athlete Development, Athletic Communications, Multimedia/Technology, and Social Committees.

Chesebro previously served as a member of the Ivy League Digital Strategy Committee which was charged with conceptualizing and launching The Ivy League Digital Network for the fall of 2013. The Ivy League Digital Network produced more than 2,000 live event broadcasts over the course of its first two-years, providing fans with unprecedented access to the Ancient Eight. Chesebro also helped to expand Harvard's video content on and YouTube, creating the video series “Seeing Crimson” for the 2011-12 academic year and introducing “Sights and Sounds” and “Top Plays” to the Harvard lineup in 2012-13.

Chesebro received a Grant Burger Media Award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association in May of 2013 as the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association's Sports Information Director of the Year.

Chesebro came to Harvard after four years at American University, where he served as the Athletic Communications Assistant and Assistant Director of Athletic Communications from 2007-2011. While at American he worked with 14 of the university’s 16 NCAA Div. I sports, including three seasons as the primary contact for the men’s basketball team. Chesebro covered a total of eight Patriot League championship teams during his tenure at American, and worked with a total of 17 All-America recipients.

Chesebro was also responsible for the expansion of American’s multimedia efforts which resulted in more than 100 live events being streamed in 2010-11 and the creation of more than 200 post-production video pieces for the web. In the summer of 2009, Chesebro led the redesign and re-launch of in partnership with PrestoSports, and aided in the department’s transition to a new partnership with Pack Network for live video streaming. Additionally, Chesebro helped to manage social media accounts for the department and each of its 16 varsity teams.

A 2007 graduate of Niagara University, Chesebro earned his degree in sport management with a minor in marketing. He spent all four of his undergraduate years working in Niagara’s Athletic Communications Office as a student assistant, and volunteered with Athletics Marketing as a junior and senior. He attended the 2005 Sport Management Association Conference in Tempe, Arizona, the 2006 Sport Management Association Conference in Denver, Colorado, and volunteered at Roger Dean Stadium during MLB spring training in 2007 with other members of Niagara’s sport management program. In May of 2006, Chesebro received the Purple Pride Award for his work within Niagara Athletics.

Chesebro is a 2006 alumnus of the National Baseball Hall of Fame's Frank and Peggy Steele Internship Program.

Chesebro and his wife, Maggie, reside in Arlington, Massachusetts.
