Ding, Dayneka Named Club Sport Athletes of the Year

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Jessica Ding '19, of the swimming club, and Steve Dayneka '19, of the men's rugby club, have been named Harvard's 2019 Club Sport Athletes of the Year.

Ding was a four year qualifier to the national tournament, and is the only person from Harvard club swimming to ever swim in a final round at the national event, setting a club record in the 200 individual medley in the process. She serves as the meet coordinator within the team, and helped to organize two club Ivy championship meets.

En route to earning the team's MVP award in two consecutive seasons, Dayneka has led the rugby team in tries for two-straight years, and in 2017 received an invitation to try out for the United States under-20 national team. The team's captain, the rugby club has grown to its largest roster size in recent memory, and he assists the coaches with travel logistics and practice schedules .

Harvard offers 60 club sport programs, serving 1,500 participants.
