Four Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Men's At-Large First Team

Four Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Men's At-Large First Team

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Junior Eli Dershwitz of men's fencing, sophomore Dean Farris of men's swimming and diving, senior Marko Kostich of men's volleyball, and senior Robert Shaw of men's lacrosse were named to the 2018 CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large men's team, as announced by the organization this afternoon (May 17).

To be nominated for CoSIDA Academic All-District, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve with legitimate athletic credentials, have reached their sophomore year and have at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA.

First team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month. 

Eli Dershwitz
Men's Fencing
Junior, History, Sherborn, Mass.
Clinched his second straight NCAA Championship title in sabre this season … Named to All-America first team … Posted a perfect 23-0 record in the round robins of the NCAA Championships … Named to All-Ivy first team … Crowned the individual champion in sabre at the Ivy League Championships … Finished the 2017-18 season with a 47-6 overall record and plus-131 touch differential. 

Dean Farris
Men's Swimming and Diving
Sophomore, History & Science and Society, Atlanta, Ga.
All-America first team honors in the 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard backstroke … All-America honorable mention in 50-yard freestyle … Named the Phil Moriarty High Point Swimmer of the Meet at Ivy Championship meet … Broke Harvard record in the 50 free at the NCAA Championships, clocking in with a time of 19.16 … All-Ivy first team in 200 free, 100 back, 200 back, and four relays (400 free, 800 free, 200 medley, 400 medley) … Posted three top times in the nation (200 free, 200 back, and 100 back) ... Recorded the best time in the nation in the 200 freestyle at the Ivy League Championship (1:31.12) ... Shattered the program record in the 200 back, recording the second best time in the nation in the 200 back (1:38.99) at the Ivy Championship … Set six Ivy League Championship records, seven Harvard marks and seven Blodgett Pool records ... Academic All-Ivy. 

Marko Kostich
Men's Volleyball
Senior, Statistics, Burr Ridge, Ill.
Leads the team and ranks 40th in the nation and 10th in the EIVA with 5.38 assists per set … Ranks sixth in the EIVA and 24th in the nation in service aces per set at 0.41 … Has surpassed his career highs in kills, attacks, digs, and block assists so far this season … Has started in each of the team's 18 matches this season … Currently ranked fifth in program history in career assists at 1,626 … Ranked seventh in program history in assists per season at 837 … Named to the All-EIVA second team and EIVA All-Academic Team both his sophomore and junior years. 

Robert Shaw
Men's Lacrosse
Senior, Computer Science, Canton, Mass.
Academic All-Ivy in 2017 … All-Ivy League second team in 2017 … Has recorded double-digit saves in 11 of 12 games this season, and ranks fourth nationally with 12.42 saves per game … Climbed to sixth all-time at Harvard with 486 career saves, can become the sixth player in program history to get to 500 saves against Yale on Saturday … Has 149 saves this season, while also collecting 22 ground balls.
