| College: | Harvard '10 |
Brady, a recent graduate and former captain of the Harvard men’s track and field team, is in his second season as assistant coach for the Harvard track and field team. In his first year assisting throws coach Cathrine Grace Erickson, Harvard’s group combined for 15 top-ten marks during the indoor and outdoor campaigns. Brady helped four male and one female thrower qualify for the 2011 NCAA East Preliminary, led by Hannah Mayer ’14, who was ranked 15th regionally in the javelin, and classmate Dustin Brode ’14, who was seeded 20th in the shot put. Mayer and Brode both took home individual heptagonal championships and three athletes earned All-Ivy League honors.
During Brady’s career at Harvard, he was a nine-time Heptagonal Championship scorer, scoring in every event in which he competed. He was named to the All-Ivy League second team in the weight throw and All-East in the hammer throw as a senior. He is the only athlete to rank in the top ten in four events in program history (hammer throw, weight throw, shot put, and discus). He found the most success in the hammer, in which he qualified for the NCAA Preliminary Championships in Greensboro, N.C., as a senior. As team captain, Jack led the men’s team to its highest finish at the Indoor Heptagonal Championships in the past eight years, finishing only two points out of third place.
Brady graduated in June 2010 from Harvard with a B.A. in economics. While assisting the coaching staff in all aspects of the program, Jack will continue to train and compete in the hammer throw.
