Men’s Cross Country, Track and Field Welcomes 17 Newcomers for 2013-14

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. –
Jason Saretsky, The William W. “Bill” McCurdy Director of Track and Field/Cross Country, announced that 17 men will be joining the ranks of the Harvard cross country and track and field teams for the 2013-14 season. Six members of the incoming class will bolster the cross country roster, and will join the other 11 newcomers for the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons.

“I am thrilled with the incoming men’s class of freshmen,” said Saretsky. “Over the past few years, our recruiting has been among the best in the nation and this year’s men’s class is again a stellar group. There is a tremendous amount of talent and I look forward to supporting all of our student-athletes as they pursue their athletic and academic goals here at Harvard.”

The 17 freshmen will join teams on the rise, as the Crimson experienced great success in 2012-13. Cross country saw two runners qualify for the NCAA championships, and the men’s track and field squad took third at indoor Heps and fifth at the outdoor competition. The third-place result at indoor Heps marked the men’s best result since 1985. The men also saw nine student-athletes qualify for the NCAA East Preliminary meet, and teamed with the women to produce the most NCAA preliminary qualifiers in programs history (18).

Here is a look at the class of 2017:
