Cross Country Teams Ranked in the Top Eight in Preseason Regional Poll

Women's Northeast Regional Rankings
The men’s and women’s cross country teams are both
ranked in the top eight of the U.S. Track and Field Cross Country
Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Preseason Regional Rankings. The
Crimson men are ranked sixth and the women are ranked seventh in
the Northeast Regional.
The Crimson men, who return four of its top five scorers from the
Heptagonal Championships, have the best 1-2 punch in senior captain
Chas Gillespie and junior Daniel Chenoweth. Gillespie finished
fifth at last year’s Heps, while Chenoweth was eighth.
Chenoweth went on to take fourth at the Northeast regional and
finished 42nd at the NCAA Championships.
The Harvard women, who welcome back its top five finishers from
Heps, will be led by junior Claire Richardson. The St. Paul, Minn,
native will have sophomore Nichole Cochran, juniors Meghan Houser
and Jamie Olson and senior Stacy Carlson to help the Crimson
continue to climb in the standings at the Ivy League, ECAC and
regional championships.
Harvard begins its 2009 season this weekend at the 15th annual Br.
John “Paddy” Doyle/Iona College Meet of Champions at
Van Cortlandt Park in New York City.
