Fast Start Carries Women's Water Polo Past Mercyhurst, 13-6

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Harvard women's water polo team jumped on Mercyhurst in the first quarter to earn a 13-6 win in it's final regular season game. The Crimson finish the year 2-3 in conference play.
Yoshi Andersen paced the Crimson offense with five goals, two assists and four steals. Melissa Balding chipped In a hat trick of her own, while Jelena Cyr delivered two goals and an assist. Michelle Martinelli, Zoe Osborne and Eela Nagaraj each found the back of the net once.
Harvard came out firing on all cylinders, taking a commanding, 5-1, lead after the opening eight minutes behind a pair of goals from Balding. The Crimson buried three more goals to make it 8-2 at the break.
After the intermission, Harvard pushed it's advantage out to eight with a 5-3 scoring margin in the third frame. Mercyhurst kept Harvard off the board in the final stanza, but the Lakers rally came up short as the Crimson only surrended one score in the last quarter.
Ariel dukes continued her strong play in goal with six saves and a steal. Andersen and Nagaraj added four swipes, while Kalina Grabb had there and Martinelli had two.
Harvard will welcome it's CWPA Southern Division foes to Blodgett Pool April 12-13 for the Southern Division Championships.
